Meet the team
Doreen Gibbons
Commodore
I was born and bred in the Black Country – possibly one of the farthest points from any marine activity, however recently I have fulfilled my lifelong ambition of moving to Cornwall to be close to the sea.
After studying public administration at Wolverhampton University, I spent 30 years working for local government building my knowledge and understanding of the public sector. I have also run two very successful small businesses, one supplying ceramic workshops to schools, colleges, galleries and other educational establishments, and the other running an art gallery for local artists and community groups.
Since moving to Cornwall I have made the most of being close to the sea. I enjoy gig rowing and as the newly appointed Commodore for BATs I fully intend to encourage as many visually impaired and blind participants to enjoy the delights of sailing.
